Nedahl has been a journalist for two decades, spending five years as editor of Cleo magazine and has been an editor at Cosmopolitan, Good Food and the Fairfax ‘Health’ section. She’s written across various topics for a range of high-profile food, health, travel and fashion-focused titles. She’s also appeared on The Today Show, Sunrise, A Current Affair, various radio programs and has been a guest judge on Australia’s Next Top Model.

Since having two children, you’ll more likely find her at the beach with the family than at a fashion show, doing a bunch of yoga classes, or cooking healthy food while drinking a glass of wine. And of course, the right family car is critical to keeping it all moving smoothly. A roomy cabin, plenty of boot space and stylish interiors rate high on her priority list. She also believes pink is the new black (except when it comes to cars) and that we should ditch single-use plastics.

I got quite a few comments driving this Holden Calais Tourer around for a week. Dads stopped me on the school run, “Is that the new Holden ?” Neighbours commented while walking past the driveway, “Is that the new Commodore ?” It seemed everyone was interested because the Calais Tourer looks good...Read more
The small hatchback has come of age. I feel like it’s grown up from being that car you got when you went to uni, and has graduated to the car you get even when you have a family. Because they’re not so small any more. Take this Mercedes A250 for example. I thought it was going to be one of those...Read more
The Toyota Yaris has been a staple on Australian roads for years, but how does this tiddler work as a family vehicle? A small car is never the first thing that springs to mind when you're thinking of a family vehicle , but if your budget sits at around the $17,000 mark, this is not a bad option...Read more
I’ve never been in a Mini and didn’t know what to expect - besides the fact that I knew it was going to be small. I certainly wasn’t expecting to love the exterior so much, and I sure didn’t know how utterly cool the interior was. The whole week was full of nice surprises. I was in the Mini Cooper...Read more
The Kia Picanto sounds fun, right? And it looks fun too. A very small car that has competitors like the Mitsubishi Mirage and Fiat 500, it doesn't exactly scream family car. But if you've already got one larger car, the Picanto could potentially be a second runaround. You know, the back up, when...Read more
The new and improved Mazda CX-5 is here, bringing with it a snazzy new engine, safety gear and the latest in technology that quite frankly, we’ve been waiting on from Mazda. The CX-5 plays in that mid-size SUV space, competing with cars like the Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Rav4 and Honda CR-V. I was...Read more
Ford has a new kid on the block. Well, it's a large kid - a five seater SUV that competes with the likes of Mazda's CX-8 and Hyundai's Santa Fe. It's the Ford Endura . Big, bolshy, but only five seats compared to seven in some competitor offerings. Still, it will fit a family of five so easily, and...Read more
Wait, what? Small cars for families? Well, they can be, if you choose the right one. Ford’s Focus has undergone a rather dramatic makeover of late, and this new 2019 model has more interior space than in the past. It’s in a tough category and competes with cars like the Mazda3, Hyundai i30 and...Read more
The thing about traditional 'small' cars is that they’re not so small anymore. Because there are other, smaller cars, and even cars that are masquerading as larger cars, that are also smaller. Confused? Just know that the Kia Cerato hatch is not as small as its exterior would have you believe and...Read more
Mitsubishi's ASX is a small SUV in competition with cars like the Mazda CX-3 and Hyundai Kona. I always have a bit of a strange time in small SUVs, I get a bit nervous. Will it be big enough for my family of four? Will I be able to fit everything in the boot? (I don't know what I think I will be...Read more
There are definite advantages to owning a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Even if you’ve never thought about going off-road and you’re not really a camping kind of person, a few weeks driving this car will have you planning road trips through rivers and along rocky coastlines and sandy beaches. Or at...Read more
Presenting the Land Rover you can get for $60,255 (before on-road costs). It’s the Discovery Sport, a five-seater SUV that competes with cars like the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3, but unlike those cars, can be optioned up to a seven-seater should you so desire. It’s features punch well above its price...Read more
I got a fair few comments driving the Prado this week. Mostly about the size. From, “Gosh it’s big!” and “How can you park it?” to “I love big cars!” and “I can’t stand big cars.” It’s a personal thing, right? You either want/need a large car or you don’t. And you’re clearly on this page because...Read more
Don't you sometimes sit around wishing for a more considerate, clever car? There are some car companies out there who spend productive days dreaming up clever, considerate ways cars can be more of service than just driving from point A to point B. Skoda is one of those companies. I test drove the...Read more
There are definitely times when you appreciate extra space in the car, even if you only have two kids (let alone when you have three or four and the extra space is a daily necessity). The Holden Acadia is the new seven-seat SUV to enter the market and I got to review it on the week I needed space...Read more
The Kia Sportage sits neatly in the mid-size SUV category, competing against cars like the Mazda CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson. Is it as beautiful as the CX-5? As practical as the Tucson? Where does it sit in the mid-size SUV scale? There are pros and cons to every vehicle, which is why we drive them for...Read more
It’s the standard size car most families with two kids and a dog are looking for. The mid-size SUV. It’s the one that you can most easily drive without it impinging on your lifestyle or cramping your actual style (sorry, no more sports cars for mums and dads, the sensible SUV is what you’ve got now...Read more
The small SUV appeals to those who want something in the way of height for their car, but they don’t want a huge truck to drive around. They want more space than their hatchback perhaps, but not so much space they can’t fit into parking spots in the city. The thing about this middle ground however...Read more
Looking at this car you’d be forgiven for thinking it was particularly fun to drive. And you’d be right. It conjures up words I’d never normally think about using, like ‘snazzy’ and ‘funky’ and ‘hip’. But they really encapsulate the feeling you get in a Hyundai Kona. It’s the cool looking small SUV...Read more
