Nedahl has been a journalist for two decades, spending five years as editor of Cleo magazine and has been an editor at Cosmopolitan, Good Food and the Fairfax ‘Health’ section. She’s written across various topics for a range of high-profile food, health, travel and fashion-focused titles. She’s also appeared on The Today Show, Sunrise, A Current Affair, various radio programs and has been a guest judge on Australia’s Next Top Model.

Since having two children, you’ll more likely find her at the beach with the family than at a fashion show, doing a bunch of yoga classes, or cooking healthy food while drinking a glass of wine. And of course, the right family car is critical to keeping it all moving smoothly. A roomy cabin, plenty of boot space and stylish interiors rate high on her priority list. She also believes pink is the new black (except when it comes to cars) and that we should ditch single-use plastics.

Holden Calais Tourer 2019 review
By Nedahl Stelio · 04 Apr 2019
I got quite a few comments driving this Holden Calais Tourer around for a week.Dads stopped me on the school run, “Is that the new Holden?” Neighbours  commented while walking past the driveway, “Is that the new Commodore?” It seemed everyone was interested because the Calais Tourer looks good. It’s essentially a five-seat wagon, but it’s not the Holden Sportwagon - similar, but the Tourer is longer and higher. It’s a part of the Commodore family and I was in the Calais which is second from the top of the range. This particular Holden is now built in Germany but still has all the key characteristics you’re used to in a Calais, with a V6 engine and streamlined style. Here’s how it did over a week with my family.

Mercedes A250 4Matic 2019 review
By Nedahl Stelio · 01 Apr 2019
There was a time when the idea of a hatchback as a family car would have seemed like doing hard time, but then we all downsized and today cars like Volkswagen Golfs and Mazda 3s are a common choice. We've put our test family into the latest and flashest hatch around, the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class, to see if it can cope with a typical two adults and two kids arrangement.

Toyota Yaris 2019 review: Ascent
By Nedahl Stelio · 22 Mar 2019
It might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of a "family car", but the Toyota Yaris is certainly a willing little all-rounder. We put it to the ultimate test; spending a week with a family of four, and all their gear, to see if it could fit the bill.

Mini Cooper 2019 review: 5-door
By Nedahl Stelio · 12 Mar 2019
I’ve never been in a Mini and didn’t know what to expect - besides the fact that I knew it was going to be small. I certainly wasn’t expecting to love the exterior so much, and I sure didn’t know how utterly cool the interior was. The whole week was full of nice surprises.I was in the Mini Cooper five door hatch, in the automatic. It’s the base level Mini and is in a similar category to the Audi A1 and Fiat 500. And sure, it’s not the first thing you think of when you talk family car, but my friend is considering buying one because her family consists of her and her teenage son.So the family thing is relative. And as a second, runaround car, the Mini is hard to beat. But it is pricey for a small car, this one starts at $31,150 with the auto version at $33,650 - and that’s before on-road costs.I put it to the test for a whole week with my family of four.

Mazda CX-5 2019 review: GT turbo petrol
By Nedahl Stelio · 04 Mar 2019
The new and improved Mazda CX-5 is here, bringing with it a snazzy new engine, safety gear and the latest in technology that quite frankly, we’ve been waiting on from Mazda. The CX-5 plays in that mid-size SUV space, competing with cars like the Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Rav4 and Honda CR-V.I was test driving the CX-5 GT in petrol, which is second from the top in a range of five. I went away this weekend a few hours drive out of Sydney, which meant I could see how it handled the open road. Here’s how it performed over seven days with my family.

Ford Focus ST-Line hatch 2019 review
By Nedahl Stelio · 18 Feb 2019
Wait, what? Small cars for families? Well, they can be, if you choose the right one. Ford’s Focus has undergone a rather dramatic makeover of late, and this new 2019 model has more interior space than in the past. It’s in a tough category and competes with cars like the Mazda3, Hyundai i30 and Toyota Corolla. I was in the Focus ST Line, which is in the middle of the range. Prices for this model start at $28,990 before on-road costs. Does it have what it takes to compete with the others? I drove it for seven days with my family to find out.

Kia Cerato Sport hatch 2019 review
By Nedahl Stelio · 08 Feb 2019
The thing about traditional 'small' cars is that they're not so small anymore. Because there are other, smaller cars, and even cars that are masquerading as larger cars, that are also smaller. Confused? Just know that the Kia Cerato hatch is not as small as its exterior would have you believe and you will fit a family of four in there.
