They're nearly all the way around ... Having already conquered Europe, Africa, South and Central America, the riders from across the world have just navigated their way through Australia and are now bound for the most challenging part of their adventure ... Asia. Led by Welsh motorbike expedition company Globebusters, this latest Antipodean stretch included a collision with a kangaroo, travel fatigue and seemingly endless stretches of unchanging terrain. But the BMW Motorrad machines that almost all the travellers are using have continued to perform amazingly well. The explorers are riding a mix of R 1200 GS Adventure, R 1150 GS Adventure, F 800 GS and F 650 GS bikes. "It's been a demanding journey so far," expedition leader Kevin Sanders said. "The bikes have done about 40,000km in the past six months, 12,000km of which were in Australia. When the bikes arrived in Sydney, they all went to Procycles BMW. The team there worked on Good Friday to ensure we could leave on Saturday morning. That's dedication for you!"

M.I.G. Security relies on its nine-strong Toyota Prius fleet for security patrols around Mandurah and surrounding areas, about 75km south of Perth. Operations manager Paul Hiron said the longest-serving Prius, which has been used for patrols since 2005, is still going strong after 788,411km. Hiron says reliability is vital to their business as clients depended on the company to give them peace of mind. "Prius is ideal for our work, being quiet, economical and comfortable," he says. "It's ideal in stop-start traffic for fuel-efficiency and it performs on the open roads as well."

It marks the comeback of a racing legend, the BMW M3 which celebrated 40 wins and more than 150 podium finishes in the series between 1987 and 1992. The BMW M3 DTM is based on the fourth generation of the most sporty production car to emerge from BMW M. BMW Motorsport has been developing the DTM version of the car since last year when the Board of Management announced the company's return to DTM. The powerful V8 engine equipped with the air restrictor as detailed in the technical regulations generates about 360kW of power. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about three seconds and boasts a top speed of about 300km/h. The DTM regulations for the 2012 season stipulate all cars must use a certain number of standard components. This is to guarantee that development costs remain reasonable and are considerably lower than in other top motorsport categories. Despite this, the BMW Motorsport engineers have been able to call upon the immense technical resources of the BMW Group and apply their innovation to establish performance advantages over their rivals in areas such as engine and aerodynamics.

Owners are asked to take their Navaras to dealers for checks; if cracks are found the wheels will be replaced immediately. The future of V8 Supercar racing has begun.On-track testing of the first Car of the Future prototype is underway at Queensland Raceway, starting with a Ford Falcon. These exclusive Carsguide shots show the prototype - which is being handled by Fujisu Series drivers to prevent any main-game drivers getting an early advantage - during its first shakedown. The rear wing and nose prove it's a Falcon but there is also a Commodore twin which is also headed for the track as V8 Supercars Australia works towards its on-track start date in 2013. Key mechanical changes to the car are a totally shared rollcage design and 'control' components including front and rear independent suspension, a transaxle rear-mounted gearbox and a fuel tank moved ahead of the rear wheels. The car was designed and developed at Pace Innovations in Queensland, before being passed to V8 Supercars for test work. Teams will get basic blueprints before the end of this year as they begin their individual development programs.

…to celebrate 50 years of Touring Car in the Shannons Lakeside Classic Speed Fest from 12-14 August.Allan Moffat's Iconic 1969 Trans Am Boss Mustang and Norm Beechey's famous 1970 Championship-winning HT GTS 350 Monaro will be coming from the Bowden Collection to be seen and heard at the meeting, while the late `Pete' Geoghegan's GTA Mustang that took the Touring Car crown three years running from 1967-1969 is also expected to put in a special appearance.
