Goodwood Revival 2018 hosts a $353 million race

Motor racing is already an expensive sport, but the organisers behind this year's Goodwood Revival are going one step further and planning "the most expensive motor race ever held".

Celebrating the event’s 20th anniversary, a total of 30 cars worth A$353 million (200 million pounds) will take part in the Kinrara Trophy, which is restricted to closed-roof GTs built before 1963.

The field is made up of 10 Ferrari 250 GT SWBs (including the Breadvan), a 250 and 330 GTO, four Aston Martin DB4 GTs, two AC Cobras, a lone Maserati 3500 GT and a handful of Jaguar E-Types.

For an hour straight, all 30 cars will be rubbing panels and racing like it’s the '60s again. It's great to see these racers being used for what they were intended for and not hidden away by their owners.

Including the other cars on display and those taking part in the 15 races, over A$883 million (500 million pounds) of metal will be attending this year’s event.

The Goodwood Revival kicks off on the 7th of September.
