Hyundai Grandeur spy shots

Only a handful of buyers have been enticed to the full-sized, full- service, full-luxury flagship despite an affordable starting price of $39,990 with a V6 engine. But Hyundai has plans to make the Grandeur bigger and even more luxurious as it continues its global new-model attack.

The all-new replacement for the Grandeur is testing in northern Scandaniva, where Carparazzi caught a car that - despite plenty of armoured camouflage to deflect camera attacks - is clearly bigger than the current model.

The Grandeur sits globally above the Sonata - now the i45 in Australia - and the left-hand drive Genesis, and sources believe it will become much more like the i45 in a makeover that will make it far less Korean- centric in design.

The new model is expected on sale in late 2011, probably after a Korean motor show preview early next year, with a choice of 3.3 and 3.8-litre V6 engines. The engine for Australia is not set yet, but the 3.8 is currently used and will be upgraded with a new six-speed automatic gearbox.
