Lexus has lobbed a pair of Crafted limited-edition variants of its RX large SUV ushering in extra features and an upgrade to the Lexus Encore Platinum rewards program.

The five-seat 2.0-litre turbocharged two-wheel drive RX300 and 3.5-litre V6 petrol all-wheel drive RX350 Crafted are based on the RX Luxury grade, but add a darkened grille, bumper and mirror caps and unique 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the Crafted features heated and ventilated front seats, and driver’s seat memory function.

Pricing for the RX300 Crafted is $77,075 before on-road costs, which is $4062 more than the regular RX300, while the RX350 Crafted is $86,485 – representing a $3472 premium.

Lexus Encore includes three years of capped-price servicing, service loan cars, an Ampol fuel offer, free access to rewards and special events.

Encore Platinum – usually reserved for the flagship LX, LC and more – adds Lexus On Demand which allows owners to borrow another Lexus model up to four times, and for up to eight days at a time.

It also includes valet parking at Westfield shopping centres and selected Australian and New Zealand airports.

The Crafted variants are offered in 10 colours, and come with the Lexus Safety Sense+ active safety suite.

Calling out the make and model of every single car he saw as a toddler might have challenged his parents’ patience, but it was clearly a starting point for Tim Nicholson’s journey into automotive journalism. Tim launched the program, Fender Bender, on community radio station JOY 94.9 during completion of his Master of Arts (Media and Communications). This led to an entry role at industry publication GoAuto, before eventually taking the role of Managing Editor. A stint as RACV’s Motoring Editor – including being an Australia’s Best Cars judge – provided a different perspective to automotive media, before leading him to CarsGuide where he started as a Contributing JournalistĀ in September 2021, and transitioned to Senior Editor in April 2022, before becoming Managing Editor in December 2022.
