Ask Smithy Xtra Shuddering Suzuki

Over the last 18 months my 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara has developed a worsening front-end shudder. When you first drive off forward or reverse the clutch pedal, gear stick and steering wheel shake so hard that it feels like the whole front of the car is going to fall off, but by the time you've gone a couple of streets it's gone. To make it trickier it does not do it all the time. I have had it back to the dealer several times, I've even left it with him overnight a couple of times, and they can't fault it. As the warranty runs out soon, I am getting nervous, not to mention frustrated. Any tips?

The Grand Vitara is a full-time 4WD wagon, so I’d be talking to your dealer and have them check the drive train to the front wheels, and for starters change the oil in the front diff.
