BMW Group has outed its new M-fettled X3 and X4 performance SUVs, showing camouflaged prototype versions at a recent race meeting at Germany's Nurburgring circuit.

Australians can't get enough SUVs. So it makes sense for BMW to wave its M Performance wand over the compact X3, to produce a quick, capable and entertaining package.

BMW has uncovered the plug-in hybrid version of its fourth-generation X5 large SUV, with it featuring increased outputs and improved battery-only driving range, ahead of a global release next year.

BMW has revealed a new range-topping X2 variant, the M35i, with a performance drivetrain and M Sport visuals.
