The MG IM6 large SUV launched globally in 2024 as the brand’s new flagship. It was developed by SAIC as part of MG’s push into the premium family SUV market, sitting above the MG HS in size and price. In some markets the model was also known as the IM LS7, linking it to SAIC’s IM premium sub-brand.
The MG IM6 was built with a focus on electrification, offered in both hybrid and battery-electric forms depending on the region. By 2025 the model had gained wider availability outside China, including Europe and right-hand-drive markets. Updates during this time improved software, interior technology and safety systems to meet stricter global standards.
The MG IM6 continues as the company’s most advanced SUV, competing with models like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. It plays a central role in MG’s Australian line-up, offering family buyers a large, electrified option.
The line-up currently starts at $60,990 for the Im6 Premium and ranges through to $77,990 for the range-topping Im6 Pereformance.
