I INTEND to buy a nearly new car in the next few months from a reputable dealer. I'm seriously considering a 407 Peugeot HDi and would appreciate your advice on the best time to buy. I hear suggestions of buying at the end of the month because dealers are eager to lift sales numbers, or buying just before Christmas for the same reason, or buying near the end of the financial year, again for the same reason, or buying in January, which is a quiet time for dealers. Is there any truth to such advice?
YOU can save money by buying at particular times, but it isn't necessarily the same for all makes and models. If you were buying a Toyota, Ford or Holden the times you mention are best, but that doesn't apply to Peugeot. As a relatively small-volume make in Australia, I don't believe there is a particular time to buy a Peugeot, but I would look at the run-out phase before, or just after the introduction of a new model.
