I purchased a 2012 Holden Cruze in 2014 with 40,000 km and had to replace the engine and transmission last year. It cost nearly $5000. Last night while driving home, the car revved and then would not drive forward, only drives in reverse. I really don't want to spend much more on this car, as a part of me feels like I should cut my losses. Do I have any rights with Holden coming to the party on this one? I have read others having similar issues and even Holden doing recalls for some issues with the Cruze. Any advice would be most appreciated.
It sounds like the Cruze automatic transmission gremlin has struck. In the past Holden has come to the party with some or the entire repair costs, but that was some time ago when the car was near new. As yours is seven years old Holden might not be as cooperative. Even so it would be worth calling Holden (1800 033 349) and lodging a claim for compensation.
