Ask Smithy Xtra electronic throttle motor trouble

My 2000 Hyundai Grandeur has been very reliable since we bought it five years ago, but is now giving trouble with the electronic throttle motor. Our mechanic replaced it with a second hand one, but the scanner is still giving an error report. He is unable to fix it and was advised by Hyundai that it could cost big dollars to fix. I cannot afford to replace it at moment as I am on a pension, so should I ''bite the bullet'' and outlay necessary cost to rectify it? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

The secondhand fix didn’t work, so you really don’t have an option but to spend the money on a new part. It might be expensive now, but will be the most economical way of fixing it in the long term.
