I have been advised that I should not be using E10 petrol in my Toyota RAV4, as it not only is detrimental on rubber components, but also over time actually corrodes metal, in particular the petrol tank itself. Is this for real or just a myth to put off using E10?

Toyota’s advice is that models fitted with carburetors shouldn’t use E10, but all others can. That includes your RAV4.
