I HAVE been offered $4500 for my 2002 Ford Ka as a trade-in. It is in excellent condition with a full service history and just 53,000km on the odometer. I think that is a bit low. What do you think I could get for it if I sold it privately?

I HAVE a 1999 Hyundai Grandeur XG, which is in top condition with full dealer service history and 80,000km on the clock. The silver paintwork is in excellent condition, as is the leather interior. What would be a fair dealer trade-in price? Also, what's a fair price for a private sale?

CAN you tell me how much a 1995 Daihatsu Charade five-door hatchback might be worth in a private sale and as a trade-in? It's had one owner, done 100,000km, is in good condition and has airconditioning and power steering.

I HAVE a 1982 Toyota Celica Liftback, which is nearing the 90,000km mark. It is a one-owner vehicle, in excellent mechanical condition and has no rust. I have been thinking of buying another vehicle and my friends say I would be better selling the Celica privately because I would get nothing as a trade-in. What price do you think I could expect selling privately or in a trade? Should I try to sell through a club to Celica enthusiasts? Also, is there a name for cars that reach this age and are they more valuable as they get older?
Selling the sigma

COULD you advise me on the best way to sell my 1986 Mitsubishi Sigma. It has a manual gearbox and has done 227,000km, but it's in relatively good condition and runs well. It's registered until the end of next month, but I haven't got a roadworthy certificate, and I'm not sure what would be needed to make it roadworthy. Is my asking price of $800 too high? Does paperwork need to be filled out if the buyer takes the car with the number plates but without a roadworthy? Would I be better off to take the number plates off, return them, and get the car towed to a wreckers?
