A week after a recent major service (135,000 km) on our 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero diesel, it went into limp mode. The dealer found that the inlet manifold and the EGR were blocked. After paying $2500 to repair it we were offered $270 as a goodwill payment. This appears to be a common problem with a lot of new diesels, so much that Mitsubishi changed its design in later models. Is this a fair goodwill settlement, and should this have been picked up at the service?
You can't blame the dealer for not picking it up if the vehicle wasn't playing up when it went in for service. As for the goodwill payment, it does seem a small token only, but the car is six years old and has notched up a fair few kays, so I think you would pushing uphill in trying to get more money out of Mitsubishi.
