The Aston Martin DB12 launched in 2023 as the brand’s successor to the DB11. It was presented as a “super tourer” rather than a grand tourer, signalling a shift in focus for the company. The DB12 used an updated version of the Mercedes-AMG sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, replacing the V12 option offered in the earlier DB11 range.
Through 2024 the Aston Martin DB12 gained more visibility as the first model to carry the brand’s latest design language. It also introduced a new infotainment system developed in-house rather than relying on Mercedes-Benz technology. Variants such as the DB12 Volante convertible expanded the line-up, offering buyers more choice while keeping the core focus on luxury performance.
In 2025 the Aston Martin DB12 sits as the brand’s flagship two-door model, bridging tradition with modern technology. It has not been sold under alternative names in overseas markets, maintaining a single global identity.
The Aston Martin DB12 is available in a staggering 62 colours. There are 11 different whites and silvers to choose from alone, as well as 15 shades of green, plus blacks, blues, purples, oranges and reds.
The list of standard features include 21-inch forged alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and tail-lights, keyless entry and ignition, 12-way electronically adjustable front seats, wireless phone charging, navigation, Apple CarPlay and a 390-watt 11-speaker Aston Martin sound system.
Aston Martin’s designers have understood the typical customer is likely older and prefers traditional controls. So instead of lots of touchscreens there’s a neat array of proper buttons, switches and dials to take care of all the functions without taking your eyes off the road. If you are into technology you may be disappointed by the relatively small infotainment screen, but from a usability perspective it does the job well.
The Aston Martin DB12 is powered by the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 built by Mercedes-AMG that makes 500kW/800Nm.
The Aston Martin DB12 is a 2+2 seater, but while the front seats are comfortable and supportive (and finished in high-quality leather) the rear seats are short on room and best used only in emergencies.
