The Sondors electric car looks like a tadpole but could actually be terrific

And by the next Tesla, we don't mean this is the next company to say it'll do something and then not do it - although there have been plenty such examples in recent times when it comes to 'game-changing electric vehicles'. Even the name of the car has a bit of Tesla to it - it's called the Model Sondors.

Why is the Model Sondors electric car any different? Well, it has flown under the radar, and that means only people who know about cars will know about it - which in turn means that the expectations surrounding the company are considerably lower.

And because things are better in threes, the Model Sondors electric car will be sold with three different battery packs with different travelling range for each: the base model will have 120 kilometres range, the mid-spec version will have 240km, and the top gun will have 320km. Not bad!

The company's Facebook page exclaims that "Luxury has a price tag and it's $10,000", and that people who want to get behind the initiative can reserve their very own Model Sondors for just $100 - and that's a fully refundable deposit, too.

Marketing the vehicle under the hashtag #ElectricForEveryone, it seems Sondors could be onto something here. Oh, but it seems by #ElectricForEveryone, the company might mean #ElectricForEveryoneWhoLivesInTheUSA, because on its investor site it says "US investors only".

And that's despite the fact the vehicle can be charged on 110-volt and 240-volt power, meaning it would theoretically be suitable for Australia... except for the fact it will probably only be made in left-hand drive. So, #ElectricForEveryoneButAustralianBuyers? Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

We've reached out to the Sondors team for comment on the possibility of the Model Sondors being available in this neck of the woods. If it were to be made to suit our needs, it seems that production wouldn't commence until April 2019. Could be worth the wait, right?
