Kia rio timing belt

IS IT necessary to change a cam timing belt when the time is up? My wife's Kia Rio has done 28,000km. Can I leave it until the required kilometres are up?

25 Sep 2008I favour following the maker's recommendation when it comes to maintenance. It might seem unnecessary expense when nothing wrong's, but better safe than sorry.
