Asked by Daryl Raggatt
I'm purchasing a new black Nissan 370Z and would like your advice on the value of a dealer option for Smartkote (interior and exterior) protection. Does the factory finish on the 370 require further external protection? It would not be garaged, but it not near the sea. My previous cars retained a top quality finish with just regular washing using Kitten wash and wax.

15 Mar 2011I wouldn’t spend the money; you’re being sold up to something you don’t need. The best way to look after the paint on your car is to clean it regularly with plain old water and chamois it dry. Do it at least weekly and you shouldn’t have any trouble, the Nissan paint finish won’t give you any trouble.
