Our 2000 Toyota Camry four-cylinder auto wagon is currently getting 13.5 L/100 km for the city and similar for the country when Toyota claims it should be getting 10.5 L/100 km and 7.0 L/100 km respectively. It has just had its 100,000 km service, which included new spark plugs and air cleaner etc., but this did not improve the figures. What could I look at to improve figures?
There’s something wrong with your car to be so far away from the claimed fuel consumption figures. It needs to be checked by a mechanic with diagnostic equipment. I could be a problem with the oxygen sensor making it too rich.
