    Nissan Patrol 2000: Speedo trouble

    We are having trouble with the speedo in our 2000 Nissan Patrol. It will be ok for a trip of around 100km, but then for no reason it will go from a 100 to 150 km/h, or it may go back zero. The rev counter does the same. We have tried to have it fixed, but we're told that it has to be not working at all for them to fix it. When you turn it off and start it again it's ok for a while. We were told to hit the trip meter five times and this worked for a while, but not anymore. Could you help us?

    It could be a number of things, sensor, speedo head etc. I would have it looked at by an auto electrician, who should be able to sort it out for you.
