The current Volvo XC90 has been around for a dozen years, and is well due for replacement with the new model that's on the way. We've already seen three show concepts that hint at the updated seven-seat XC90 and styling cues for other future Volvos.Ā

And in the lead-up to the official unveiling in August -- followed by its arrival here early next year -- Volvo has jumpstarted a striptease that will release a series of images and details.Ā

Spearheading the campaign are looks at the interior, and indications that Volvo has raised the luxury and technology levels and tapped deeper into the modern design reputation of its Swedish home.

The tech star is a huge tablet-like dash screen that controls infotainment features, with a supporting cast of digital instrument display, redesigned aircon controls and upmarket trim and materials including a crystal gear lever from Swedish glassmeisters Orrefors and diamond-cut finish on controls.Ā

Volvo promises better legroom and more versatility with thinner seating design and powered features that change the position of the bolsters, extend the base cushion and adjust lumbar support, plus three-way recline and slide for the second row.

There will be more details on interior, engines and the updates to Volvo's signature safety arsenal starting in July, but expect the variants' bonnets to lift on the brand's efficient 'Drive-E' four-cylinder engines.
