Australia to get mega-power Mercedes-Benz C63-S

New generation Mercedes-Benz C63-S to pack 375kW of power.

Australia will get a high-powered Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 “S” when the performance sedan goes on sale early next year.

Mercedes-Benz executives at the launch of the new C-Class wagon in Germany this week confirmed there would be two versions of the new C63 AMG sedan for the first time: a regular model (believed to have 350kW) and a C63-S with 25kW more power (believed to have 375kW).

The new generation Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 sedan is not due to be unveiled until the Paris Motor Show in October, however disguised versions of the car have been photographed during final testing following the release of the regular model earlier this year.

Overseas reports claim the new Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 sedan will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 with 375kW of power and 650Nm of torque.

The current runout model Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 “507” edition powered by a 6.2-litre V8 has 373kW of power and 610Nm of torque.

Mercedes-Benz and AMG insiders says the new C63 will be the fastest ever, able to reach 100km/h in a supercar-quick 4 seconds.

Australia is one of the biggest markets globally for the C63, with AMG cars accounting for nine per cent of Mercedes-Benz sales nationally.

The C63 is by far the most popular AMG model in Australia, accounting for more than one-third of all AMG sales Down Under, with more than 3500 sold over the past seven years.

Price is yet to be confirmed for the new Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 but the current model costs between $160,000 and $180,000, depending on options.
