Watch this Megane RS round up a McLaren on the Nurburgring

By James LisleJames Lisle
No matter how good you think you are at driving - this guy's better.

If you told someone 20 years ago that a Renault hatch would be able to keep up with a McLaren on a racetrack, they’d probably die laughing. Today is a much different story.

Working with a Megane RS 275 hot hatch, the driver – who goes by the name Bahram (and opens the boom gates with a fly swatter[!!!]) – manages to keep up with the MP4-12C supercar through the 20.7km circuit, despite the power and pedigree differential between them.

and so it begins... and so it begins...

It must be said however, that this particular Megane RS has been granted a 70kw boost in power, and also features competition suspension and sports Dunlops. Albeit with the power going through the front wheels. The wrong wheels.

The Megane RS reigns in its power with a limited-slip differential. The Megane RS reigns in its power with a limited-slip differential.

Despite the difference between the cars, the video does present an interesting argument. Which is faster, an amateur in a fast car or a talented driver in a slow car?

Check out the video to see the entire battle.
