Iso-time has seen a lot of people doodling in their notebooks while working from home. I know I’ve drawn a few terrible futuristic car designs in between stories.

But if you have actual skills when it comes to car design (unlike me), you might be interested in a competition being run by Polestar, Volvo’s electrified performance car division.

It doesn’t need to be a car, per se. Polestar says its Design Contest centres on the brief of “Pure”, with the following explanation given: “Design a new Polestar that is the purest of designs, one from twenty years from now, which showcases what Polestar’s slightly-more-distant future will look like (but still within the realm of possibility). It could be a car. It could be something else. What it has to be is a vision of Polestar's design evolution in the year 2040, following the Polestar design philosophy.”

So you might decide to design a Polestar push-scooter, or a Polestar skipping rope. Seriously.

A jury of Polestar’s senior design bodies will award prizes to those who get shortlisted (10 professional designers and 10 students), finalists (five pros and five students), and winners (one of each).

The winners get a 1/5 scale model of their concept, which will be showcased at the Polestar Design Exhibition. And they'll fly you there to see it, too.
