Porsche's 911 GT2 RS slays Dodge Demon's quarter-mile time

By Iain KellyIain Kelly

Many diehard V8 muscle car fans hold drag strip acceleration times dear to their hearts, as the brute-power monsters find corners a bit complex.

But now Porsche’s epic, corner-carving 911 GT2 RS has come for them, with over 522kW (700hp) from the twin-turbo flat-six engine enough to overcome even the mighty 626kW (840hp) Dodge Demon.

Kanoo Performance in the Bahrain has run a 9.42-second quarter-mile (400m) time, even with the high-downforce rear wing and fat front tyres in place unlike the Demon, which needs to change to drag-spec skinny front-runners to run 9.54 seconds. The GT2 RS in question runs aftermarket down-pipes, a methanol-injection kit and a custom engine tune, but is otherwise stock.

We are keen to see how the car progresses, or if anyone wants to take a Demon to the Nurburgring and challenge the GT2 RS’s lap time!
