New Zealand's car culture is cooler than Australia's

By Iain KellyIain Kelly

For a country of about 6 people and 400 sheep, New Zealand punches way above its weight class when it comes to doing amazing stuff with cars.

They’ve had some of the best racing drivers ever, including Bruce McLaren (yeah, the guy who started THAT F1 team), Denny Hulme, Chris Amon, John Brittain, Jim Richards, Shane Van Gisbergen, and dozens more. But their car events are also epic, and you only need to check out this video to see why.

Cromwell is a small town in the South Island, where VIP Pet Foods mogul Tony Quinn built the mega-million-dollar Highlands Motorsport Park race facility, and it hosted a cool car show just a couple of weeks ago. Where else would you see awesome traditional hot rods next to a Lamborghini Aventador, and old school muscle cars? The variety is amazing, and it almost doubled the population of Cromwell!

If only we had such a healthy car scene in Australia!
