As values for Ford's fastest four-door muscle car of the 1970s soar, a new high water mark has been set as Lloyds Auctions sold a Track Red XY GT-HO Phase III once owned by Aussie fast-bolwer Jeff Thompson for a tick over $1,000,000.
Only 300 Phase III GT-HO Falcons were built to win touring car races in the early 1970s, and it represented the fastest and burliest muscle car to wear a Ford badge. So it has always been worth big coin, but the Lloyds sale as the first public auction result of over $1,000,000 is a new high.
