Could Ford be taking aim at the Dodge Demon with the GT500?

Ford has released news that the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is coming in 2019.
We don’t know much else except that it will be Supercharged 700hp (522kW) V8 Engine, double what the original 1967 model was.
We also know that it will be focused on the dragstrip and the racetrack, a Dodge Demon competitor possibly?
We're keen for more teasers and for the unveil in 2019.
