Aussie Isuzu team dreams up two phat concepts just because they liked the tyres

Who would've thought a lift kit, massive tyres and a bit of bespoke bodywork could make these two look so fresh?

You know when you’re with your mates and you’re like “Man, <insert car> would look awesome with gigantic wheels and flared arches on it…”

Now imagine you’re the boss of Isuzu’s Australian precision driving team with significant access to money and resources and are literally able to live out that dream. 

Enter the Isuzu Concept X duo. These two massive trucks, based on a D-Max ute and MU-X SUV respectively, have been lifted by seven inches (with 60mm remote-reservoir shock absorbers), have bespoke bits of body-kit to accommodate the new giant Toyo tires, front and rear winch kits, as well as a performance brake package.

The team proclaim the changes amount to a new approach angle of 50 degrees, and departure angle of 38 degrees. Seriously awesome stuff.

The concepts stemmed from Team D-Max boss and the lead driver seeing the tyres on display and joking about putting them on the team's trucks. The project "got a bit out of control" and resulted in these two one-off creations.

Despite the wild exterior changes, the two trucks will retain their production interiors and 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel drivetrains (aside from a tweaked exhaust system).

Sadly you won’t be able to buy them, and there’s not even the suggestion of an officially-sanctioned pack to apply to existing Isuzus, but if you head on down to your local 4WD expo in the next year or so there’s a chance you’ll get to see one in the flesh.
