This 2013 Subaru Liberty Wagon is located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne 25 kms from the CBD.
While we consider reasonable offers be aware we have priced this car as competitively as possible so our price is fixed.
Subarus 2013 Libertys interior looks classy, has plenty of useful gizmos and the drivetrain is refined, punchy and reasonably efficient.
What we love:
Good equipment
Useful performance
Stable handling
Roomy interior
Subarus 2012 Liberty has extra equipment, a more powerful engine, some detailed cosmetic changes and a few chassis tweaks bringing it to the top of the mid-size passenger car segment.
WHAT DO YOU GET?
Standard equipment on the 2.5i includes dual-zone climate control, a rear camera, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, a multi-function leather steering wheel, cruise control and front fog lights. The 2.5i wagon gets new 17-inch alloys as well.
WHATS INSIDE?
The Libertys cockpit is a busy place given the number of controls on the redesigned steering wheel, on the centre console and the touchscreen display itself, but the good news is its all pretty easy to learn and has a nicely integrated look.
Tweaks to the facelifted model also include the electronic park brake being relocated to the centre console, indicators now have a one-touch (three flash) function and the base model also gets a USB connector.
The seats are comfortable and supportive and theres not much to complain about when it comes to available space. The rear seat has ample knee room and the roofline liberates enough head room for taller passengers. The wagon provides much more room and functionality in the rear.
UNDER THE BONNET
The latest version of Subarus 2.5-litre boxer four has a lift in peak power of four kilowatts to 127kW and torque (or pulling power) has gone up a similar amount to 235Nm.
Together with the lighter, more efficient CVT transmission that equates to a five per cent drop in fuel consumption to a combined official figure of 7.9 L/100km and a commensurate reduction in carbon dioxide output.
So performance is lively without being neck-snapping but given the ability to easily better 9.0 L/100km in mixed conditions on a diet of cheaper 91 octane fuel, its a great value car.
ON THE ROAD
Detailed changes to the Libertys suspension, steering and all-wheel-drive system have been aimed at more precise and stable handling and seem to have been entirely successful. The driver might not notice that drive is apportioned from front to rear according to steering angle and lateral forces during normal conditions, but on slippery roads it is helpful.
The basics are that the Liberty steers very well, grips hard from both ends and, with manual over ride also available on the CVT transmission, can be pushed a little bit harder than average without losing its composure.
The suspension gives a good blend of absorption and control, theres little in the way of road noise, the drivers seat is comfortable and supportive and on the whole, theres little to fault with the driving experience.
