With its twin-turbocharged V8 the Shamal was Maserati flagship grand tourer, topping the lineup of V6-engined Biturbo coupe in both performance.
This particular car was new delivered to Australia only 2 owners since new.
This great car was always serviced at well reputed Maserati specialist and have ever since handled with great care and attention and every maintenance or check was meticulously carried out only by official dealers. It comes with all its original books including all services correctly stamped.
This Shamal has coil-over shock adjustable Koni suspension, Brembo front brakes, Ceramic clutch, High flow exhaust muffler, 17 inch Oz Racing wheels, 4 new tyres and the Cam belt was done in 2019.
The Shamal was designed by Marcello Gandini, of Bertone fame. The Shamal shows its Biturbo heritage in the doors, interior, and basic bodyshell, which were carried over from the Biturbo. Gandini’s styling signature is visible in the slanted profile of the rear wheel wheel arch, also present on the fourth generation Quattroporte IV and first seen on the Lamborghini Countach.
The Shamal was powered by V8 engine, with two overhead camshafts per bank, and four valves per cylinder. It was twin-turbocharged with two IHI turbines and intercoolers, and equipped with a Marelli IAW integrated electronic ignition and fuel injection ECU per cylinder bank. The original engine output 325 Hp (over 300 Kw at the wheels and 800 Nm ) at 6,000 rpm. Power was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed Getrag manual transmission and Maserati Ranger limited-slip differential.
The manufacturer claimed a top speed of 270 km/h (170 mph) and a 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) acceleration time of 5.3 seconds.
