Own a work of art, an asset with strong potential to appreciate
First registered on 1 August 1995, this is the 206th Aston Martin DB7 ever made, possibly the earliest one in Australia. Aston Martin made just over 1,000 automatic 3.2 coupes, but only the first 300 or so were personally inspected by designer Ian Callum before delivery to ensure that their flowing lines were as perfect as he intended them. These ones were also painted in the Rolls Royce factory. Jeremy Clarkson considers the DB7 one of the best looking cars ever made, and these early ones have a timeless purity that some of the later Astons lack. Everywhere you look, you see the golden ratio in its proportions, and echoes of the DB6 and DB5 heritage.
Another thing that makes the early DB7s collectable and special is that the front and rear panels, the bonnet and the boot are made of composite, so there is no chance of rust on these. They are also significantly lighter than later steel-panelled DB7s, let alone V12 DB7s, which you notice in the handling.
In the last two years, in addition to a full service, I have spent over $7,000 in parts and labour to repair the suspension - including replacing suspension arms and bushes, exhausts, front and rear brakes, handbrake, electric window mechanism, underseal, windscreen etc. It has done very few miles since a gearbox overhaul in 2015, and comes with a full service history and a recent inspection report.
These Astons cost over $280,000 when new in 1995 - or about the price of 8 Falcons/Commodores at the time. The luxury and exclusivity is visible in the polished wood and rich grey/blue leather, alcantara roof lining, electric everything, heated front seats, 4-speed auto with sport mode, 10-CD stacker.
This DB7 is in superb condition inside and out. It has travelled less than 4,400 km per year, and is now showing just under 114,000 km (71,000 miles). I was planning to hold on to it for a long time, and am only selling because I have another toy, and don’t have enough time for both.
