Will this be the most hardcore 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series? TJM readies off-road accessories for Nissan Patrol rival

TJM is transporting its accessorised LandCruiser to be tested on rough terrain.

Off-road parts specialist TJM 4x4 Accessories is readying its modified Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series, which will serve as a showpiece for the catalogue of parts available to the newest off-road large SUV.

Shown loaded on the back of a tow truck on the way to off-road testing, the hardcore 300 Series sports a bevy of enhancements designed to better tackle the path less travelled.

Though the front of the car is obscured by a protective sheet, the requisite bull bar can be glimpsed, with protection bars extending to the front fenders and continuing down to form part of the side steps.

Exactly what materials are used for the front protection component is currently unknown, but a shadowy teaser image released on TJM’s social media channels indicates the bull bar will also feature an integrated winch and extra front lighting.

TJM is also promising extra underbody protection for the new LandCruiser, but hasn’t yet fully detailed what that entails.

The modified LandCruiser will also sport an increase of 50mm to its ride height thanks to new suspension, while the car pictured is also fitted with aftermarket wheels and chunky all-terrain rubber.

A roof tray with extra lighting elements can also be glimpsed on the test car, while TJM is also promising a snorkel for buyers that like to get their LandCruisers a little wet.

The gloss-black wheelarch protection and side-mirror covers means the test car is likely a GR Sport variant, which is priced from $137,790 before on-road costs.

The second-to-top LandCruiser grade scores a number of features designed to better help it navigate tough terrain including front and rear differential locks, an electronically controlled dynamic suspension system (known as e-KDSS in Toyota parlance), and adjustable front and rear stabiliser bars.

Like all 2022 LandCruisers, the GR Sport is motivated by a 3.3-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine, punching out a hearty 227kW/700Nm, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

TJM has not indicated a timeframe on when these accessories will be ready for public consumption, but promised to divulge more information soon.

“As the race for aftermarket accessories for the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series begins to reach boiling point, it’s clear that TJM are well ahead of the pack as they’ve already begun off-road testing,” the company said in its release.

TJM aren’t the only firm looking to bring to market parts for the new LandCruiser, as ARB are also fast-tracking development of accessories in light of the huge uptick in interest for the outgoing 200 Series model and off-roading in general.
