The more luxurious Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6! 2022 Genesis GV60 electric SUV revealed as new BMW iX3, Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace rival

The GV60 mid-size SUV is Genesis’ second all-electric model.

Genesis has revealed its more luxurious version of the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, with the all-new GV60 mid-size SUV due in Australian showrooms in the first half of next year.

With the BMW iX3, Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace firmly in its sights, the GV60 takes the related Ioniq 5 and EV6 to next level with a unique design and a series of high-end features.

Externally, the coupe-style GV60’s connection with the EV6 is strong, as evidenced by their similar doors and glasshouses, which are ever so different. That said, the former clearly identifies itself as a Genesis model with its signature ‘crest’ grille and quad headlights and tail-lights.

Inside, the GV60 is very Ioniq 5 with its dominant central touchscreen and digital instrument cluster housed under a single glass panel, while its ‘floating’ centre console is highlighted by a Crystal Sphere shift-by-wire gear selector, which acts light a mood light when not in use.

The GV60 really stands out from the crowd, though, with its aerodynamically friendly digital side mirrors, which display their live feed via a pair of touchscreens that’re positioned above the cabin’s front doorhandles.

Now, you’re probably wondering what powertrains the GV60 is available with, but Genesis hasn’t released any technical details yet, so we just have these images for now. That said, the drip-feed of information will continue in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

However, Korean Car Blog recently reported that three versions of the GV60 will be available globally from launch, with the entry-level rear-wheel-drive variant coming with a single electric motor (168kW) and a long-range battery.

According to the Korean publication, next up in the GV60 line-up will be an all-wheel-drive version with front and rear electric motors (239kW) and the long-range battery, while the performance-focused flagship variant will increase that combination’s system power output to 321kW.
