The Leapmotor C10 may be getting yet another new variant, with a high-powered all-wheel-drive version announced by parent company Stellantis.

The Chinese mid-size SUV, which is exported internationally by the same company that owns Jeep and Alfa Romeo, is already available as an electric car and a hybrid with a range-extender powertrain.

Stellantis has confirmed a new EV version of the C10 SUV will be offered with all-wheel drive and a huge power output of 436kW.

According to the press release, the model will be called the Leapmotor C10 Design 81.9kWh AWD, signifying its battery size.

The brand says it will make its debut at the Zurich Auto Show this October and promises “longer range, faster charging, and superior driving dynamics”, but it doesn’t quote a claimed electric driving range.

It does, however, say charging from 30 to 80 per cent can be done in 22 minutes, an improvement over the 30-minute claim its existing 70kWh EV models have.

Stellantis says the C10 AWD takes just 4.0 seconds to hit 100km/h, having tested it in “extremely cold conditions”.

CarsGuide has contacted Stellantis Australia for more information and to see if the new C10 variant is on the cards for our market.

Since the Leapmotor C10 went on sale late last year, only 416 have been sold, according to available sales data. The brand has admitted its decision to omit Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the C10 may have cost it some customers.
