Toyota Australia has detailed a mid-life update for its Corolla Cross small hybrid SUV ahead of its arrival in local showrooms in the second half of 2025.

This update was first revealed for the Thai market last year, but was shown for the European market overnight.

Joining the existing GX, GXL and Atmos variants is a new GR Sport grade that will sit at the top of the range.

The Corolla Cross GR Sport will be all-wheel-drive only and features a unique front fascia, darkened 19-inch alloy wheels, a ‘Sport’ drive mode, specially tuned and lowered coil springs and shock absorbers, as well as a unique electric power steering tune.

Like a number of GR Sport models, Toyota hasn’t confirmed if the Corolla Cross GR Sport will get any additional power from the 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain. It currently produces 146kW of power.

Beyond the Corolla Cross GR Sport, the rest of the range is set to receive an updated exterior design with a new integrated mesh grille. Plus, there’s a new LED headlight signature for GXL trims and up.

The 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross will be available in a range of new exterior paint colours including Massive Grey, Ink, Ash Slate, Shadow Platinum and Feverish Red. Glacier White and Frosted White carry over from the pre-update model.

Shadow Platinum, Feverish Red, Frosted White and Ash Slate will be offered with an optional two-tone black roof on certain variants.

Toyota Australia will detail the pricing for the updated Corolla Cross range, as well as full specifications, closer to its local launch in the second half of 2025.

The Corolla Cross range currently starts at $36,480 before on-roads for the GX Hybrid, and extends to $50,030 before on-roads for the Atmos Hybrid AWD.
