Volvo has announced a series of updates for its small EV, the EX30, with new variants and tech coming.

The 2026 Volvo EX30 will benefit from a new entry variant with a smaller battery at a lower price, as well as a new special edition variant and new tech including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality.

While full specifications and details haven’t been confirmed for every market, a spokesperson for Volvo Australia has informed CarsGuide some elements of the update will be seen here locally.

Australia will benefit from the addition of V2L in the EX30 in the second half of 2026, for example, with adapters for the EV’s charging ports planned as accessories.

The international statement from Volvo also confirmed the addition of V2L will be joined by some other UX (user experience) updates that existing EX30 owners will also receive.

“The addition of V2L and the new UX are planned to be provided through over-the-air software updates during summer to new and existing EX30 customers.”

A new entry variant with a 110kW motor and a smaller 51kWh battery is also on the way, though there are currently no plans to introduce this variant to Australia.

An The EX30 Black Edition is also in the works, and though also unconfirmed is likely given Volvo has offered Black Edition variants in other models here.

The Volvo Australia spokesperson did however confirm a new ‘Harvest’ interior option, available from 2027 model years onwards, which is “a warm light-toned aesthetic inspired by late Scandinavian summer evenings”.

Light coloured recycled materials adorn the cabin, with black headlining to contrast the rest of the upholstery.

Further details and possible confirmations of more updates for Australia are likely to come later in the year.
