Skoda has detailed its upcoming Elroq electric SUV, sharing indicative launch specifications and arrival timing for the mid-sizer.
The Elroq will sit below the Enyaq in the brand’s range, swapping the larger Coupe SUV-style of its first electric SUV for something more pragmatic.
It rides on the same MEB platform as the Volkswagen ID.4 and Audi Q4.
The Elroq will launch initially in a high-spec variant, it will use an 82kWh battery pack with a 210kW/545Nm electric motor sending drive to the rear wheels. It is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds.
The larger of two battery packs, which are expected to be available offers 540km of WLTP-certified driving range.
The launch edition specs are yet to be locked in, but indicative specifications Skoda shared with CarsGuide include 21-inch alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, a two-tone ‘Lodge’ interior, a 13-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless charger. Additionally, it has tri-zone climate control, ambient LED interior lighting, a head-up display, keyless entry with push-start ignition, and powered tailgate.
Elsewhere the car gets a full array of active safety equipment and nine airbags. The boot measures 470-litres and like other Skoda models it brings with it some storage innovations such as the ability to use the luggage cover as a shelf half way up the total height of the boot area, which also has a flexible netting underneath for the convenient storage of charging hardware.
The Elroq range will expand beyond this launch version in due time, and is likely to include a more affordable entry version with a smaller battery (either 55 or 63kWh) available overseas. Additionally, a more performance-oriented dual-motor version is expected to join the international line-up at a later date.
Initial launch variants of the Elroq will launch in Q3 of 2025 and the brand said to it will be priced below the Enyaq, which currently starts from $69,990 before on-road costs and state-based incentives.
In the $50,000-plus price bracket, the Elroq would go into battle against cars like the Kia EV5 (from $56,770), Xpeng G6 (from $54,800) and the segment-leading Tesla Model Y (the current outgoing version starts from $55,900).
In this mid-size electric SUV segment there is an entire tier of prices below this, primarily occupied by Chinese newcomers, including the Leapmotor C10 (from $43,888) and Geely EX5 (from $40,990).
Expect to learn more about the Elroq as well as an expanded range of Enyaq variants ahead of their Q3 arrival.
