Volvo has revealed pricing for its fully-electric EX90 large SUV.

There will be two variants, the entry-level Plus Twin Motor, which starts at $124,990, and the top-spec Ultra Twin Motor Performance, which starts at $134,990 (both before on-road costs).

That puts it at $11,910 and $9910 cheaper than the respective entry grades of key rivals, the BMW iX ($136,900) and the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV ($134,900, both before on-road costs), which carry five seats opposed to the EX90’s seven.

It is $27,900 more expensive than the entry-level Kia EV9 Air, which matches it with a third row, but carries a considerably smaller battery pack along with less power and torque.

The Volvo EX90 is larger than all of those aforementioned models, measuring 5037mm long, 2113mm wide, 1744mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2985mm.

A 111kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack serves up a claimed 570km of range off a single charge on both grades and supplies power to front- and rear-axle-mounted electric motors through a single-speed transmission.

Power and torque are clocked at 300kW/770Nm on the Plus Twin Motor for a zero to 100km/h launch time of 5.9 seconds, while the Ultra Twin Motor Performance steps up to 380kW/910Nm slashing a full second off its 0-100km/h time of 4.9 seconds.

Top speed is limited to 180km/h on both grades, which are capable of towing 2200kg.

Inside, both EX90s come with a full-width panoramic glass roof with UV protection and a 14.5-inch multimedia display that is powered by Google Built-in, which includes the full suite of Google applications and wireless Apple CarPlay.

Additionally, there is a surround-sound 25-speaker Bowers and Wilkins high-fidelity audio system and 'Nordico' fabric upholstery.

Boldly, Volvo has scrapped a conventional car key. Locking, unlocking, starting and stopping functions will all be carried out through the owner’s smartphone instead.

Volvo claims the EX90 is its safest car ever with with a blend of camera and Lidar sensors informing the car’s adaptive safety systems. NVIDIA Drive also powers its surround-view parking camera.

All EX90s will be covered by a five-year/75,000 km service plan.

More details are expected closer to the EX90’s official Australian launch.
