Prices up for 2022 Suzuki Jimny and Swift: Off-road SUV and MG3-rivalling hatchback to cost more because of global parts and shipping issues

The Jimny Lite now kicks off from $28,490 before on-road costs.

Suzuki Australia has confirmed price increases for its Jimny off-roader and Swift hatchback, meaning all of its models have gone up in price in the past month.

As CarsGuide reported earlier this week, Suzuki upped the price on the Baleno light hatchback, Ignis light SUV and the S-Cross and Vitara small SUVs.

Now we have confirmation that the price increase impact all models with the inclusion of the Jimny and Swift.

The tiny Jimny off-roader has gone up by $1500 per variant, with prices now starting from $28,490 before on-road costs for the Lite manual. The range now tops out at $31,490 for the GLX automatic.

For the Swift, all variants are up by $1000 apiece and the range now kicks off with the GL S with a manual gearbox from $21,490. A GLX Turbo automatic now costs $27,790.

The spicy Swift Sport has increased to $28,990 for the manual and $30,990 for the auto.

Despite the price increase, the Swift is still one of the most affordable light cars available in Australia. It is, however, undercut by the MG3 which is priced from $18,490 drive-away, and its Baleno stablemate that now starts from $18,490 (BOC).

A Suzuki Australia spokesperson told CarsGuide that the price increases are due to the ongoing parts and materials shortages as well as the increase in shipping costs.

Suzuki isn’t the only carmaker to lift prices as a result of the global parts and supply chain challenges. Renault, Volkswagen, Skoda, Isuzu, Jeep, BMW, Mazda and more have all adjusted prices in recent months.
