Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder petrol engine pumps out a substantial 287kW and 480Nm, which is 7kW and 20Nm less than the RS3.
This is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
It also is fitted with torque-splitting tech that distributes torque to the rear wheels to enhance cornering ability and improve stability.
The VZ5 builds on the edgy styling of the standard Formentor and adds a new front bumper, front splitter with an engraved VZ5 logo, fatter wheel arches and a new rear bumper and diffuser.
It wears 20-inch alloy wheels in copper colour and will be available in a variety of colours including Midnight Black, Dark Void, Magnetic Tech Matt, Century Bronze Matt and Enceladus Grey Matt.
