Ram and LDV, two brand’s under the umbrella of Australian vehicle distributor Ateco Group, have each been hit with recall notices, affecting the Ram 1500 and LDV Deliver 9 models.

In separate recall notices lodged to the Australian Government’s vehicle recall regulator, it has been revealed 2612 examples of the Ram 1500 and 11,962 examples of the LDV Deliver 9 have been impacted.

Affected Ram 1500 vehicles, built between 2023 and 2024, suffer from a software defect in the steering control module, which may cause the indicator signals to remain on once the steering wheel/vehicle has turned.

It may also cause the vehicle's high beam lights to sporadically turn on.

In the worst case scenario, the vehicle recall notice said: “If the turn signal indicators do not operate as intended, other road users may be unable to identify if the vehicle is turning. This could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

Owners may recall a previous recall notice regarding a manufacturing defect on the the 1500’s steering control mount in August, which had the potential to prevent the driver’s airbag from deploying in the case of an accident.

The 1500 was caught up in a further software defect recall just last month, which had the potential to prevent the vehicle's anti-lock braking system and electronic stability control from working.

As with previous recalls, owners can check if their vehicle is affected here. They are urged to contact their nearest Ram Trucks dealer to have their vehicle’s defect repaired, free of charge.

The LDV Deliver 9, on the other hand, has been impacted by a manufacturing defect regarding the fuel delivery line on vehicles built between 2021 and 2023.

The recall notice said: “The low-pressure fuel delivery line may not meet specifications. As a result, it may deteriorate allowing fuel to leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an external ignition source could result in a vehicle fire.”

In the worst case scenario, the recall notice reads: “A vehicle fire could cause injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property.”

Owners of the Deliver 9 can check if their vehicle is affected here. As with the Ram recall, owners are encouraged to contact their nearest dealer to have their fuel line inspected and repaired, free of charge.
