New-gen speed bump to reward safe drivers

Filled with a special liquid, Badennova’s speed bump will soften for slow drivers and harden for speeders.

Spanish smart safety company Badennova has developed an intelligent speed bump known as BIV that will reward careful drivers while also punishing speeders.

Filled with a non-Newtonian liquid, which means viscosity can be affected by inertial impact, the new-generation speed bump can deform as slow-moving vehicles drive over them, rewarding drivers who stick to the road rules.

Conversely, the liquid will retain its shape for sudden impacts, making the speed bump ‘harder’ for cars that do not slow down.

The Spanish company has rolled out the new speed bump in Villanueva de Tapia in Spain, while online reports indicate that both Israel and Germany are also interested in the new technology.

Would you like to see this new speed bump technology roll out in Australia? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
