New Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio 2021 detailed: Facelifted Mercedes-AMG C63 S rival steps out

A new Giulia Quadrifoglio will rocket into showrooms soon.

Alfa Romeo its high-performance sedan, the Giulia Quadrifoglio, a mid-life facelift, with it set to enter Australian showrooms by the end of this year.

While the Giulia Q is still motivated by a 375kW/600Nm 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, it can now be optionally had with a titanium Akrapovic exhaust system with quad carbon-fibre tailpipes, which creates “an even more sophisticated sound”.

The Giulia Q carries over its eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and Alfa Romeo’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system.

Visually, the Giulia Q’s Trilobe grille insert now has a gloss black finish alongside its rear badges, while have new clusters and smoked lenses have been added its LED tail-lights.

Three new paintwork options (6C Villa d’Este Red, GT Junior Ocra, and Montreal Green) are now available for the Giulia Q.

The Trilobe grille insert, side-mirror caps and rear spoiler can also be had in carbon-fibre as part of the Giulia Q’s expanded Mopar accessories catalogue.

Inside, the headline act is the 8.8-inch central display that is now a touchscreen, joining the carryover rotary-dial controller as a secondary input method for the Giulia Q’s overhauled multimedia system.

The set-up has a faster processor, features sharper graphics and has driver-configurable interactive widgets. The Giulia Q’s version also gets performance data.

Higher-quality materials, bigger cupholders and a new smartphone storage area with wireless charging form part of the redesigned centre console, which also features an Italian flag at the base of the gear selector, which has been tweaked alongside the steering wheel.

New perforated upholstery is available alongside the option of green or red seatbelts over the standard black items.

The Giulia Q’s active safety features now cover all-speed speed autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, active blind-spot monitoring, driver-attention alert, highway and traffic-jam assist, and traffic sign recognition. As such, it is now recognised as a Level 2 autonomous vehicle.

Pricing and specification for the Mercedes-AMG C63 S rival will be released by Alfa Romeo Australia prior to its on-sale date. For reference, the current model checks in at $145,900 plus on-road costs.
