The 2020 Toyota Yaris has leaked ahead of its official unveiling, with new pictures revealing sportier exterior styling to match the small car's new platform, as well as the inclusion of a hybrid powertrain for the first time in Australia.
International site CarScoops.com first published the images, which show muscular wheel arches, a blacked out roof option and LED DRLS both front and back.
Inside, the all-new Yaris interior looks clean and uncluttered, though dominated by a central screen that looms above the dash. It is expected the Yaris will follow new Toyota convention by offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though the images only confirm the inclusion of navigation.
Perhaps most importantly, though, the images confirm the inclusion of a hybrid powertrain option (details of which remain thin on the ground), and the Yaris adopts a shortened GA-B version of Toyota's lauded TNGA platform.
It's this platform that has made the most significant difference to Toyota vehicles of late, with a new focus on handling and dynamics missing from vehicles of old.
The Yaris is expected in Australia in the first half of 2020, and will be unveiled in full at the Tokyo Motor Show this month.
