Mahindra has revealed four concept models that point to mainstream global aspirations via a new platform to underpin its models.

Designed with input from both Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe in Banbury, UK, the four concepts showcase the brand’s ‘NU_IQ platform’ which will allow for electrified and combustion powertrains.

While the four concepts are just that for now, Mahindra says the platform will underpin “a new range of disruptive SUVs”, with production versions of the concepts to launch from 2027.

The four concepts, confusingly called Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X, each bring a slightly different style to the table, though all are very similar in many ways including size and rugged styling.

The Vision.T and Vision.SXT, for example, both have the look of a rival to something like a Toyota FJ Cruiser. The Vision.S appears to be a small electric SUV with decent ground clearance, while the Vision.X is supposed to be the Sporty Spice of the bunch.

While the four models have been revealed in design, there’s no specification or hint of what to expect in that area, aside from the Mahindra promising “superior driving dynamics”, “class-leading boot space” and “top-tier safety standards”.

Importantly, Mahindra has global aspirations for the new models, saying it will deliver its models to “a larger audience in India, while redefining the premium SUV experience in global markets, including left-hand drive regions”.

At this stage it's unclear what left-hand drive markets it's mentioning here. It could include markets like China or the United States.

Stay tuned for more as information is revealed, as there’s a strong chance Australia is in the brand’s sights for more future products.
