Mahindra Pik-Up 2018 pricing and spec confirmed

The model's front-end design has been overhauled.

Mahindra Australia launched its updated Pik-Up last week, with the Indian-built ute line-up receiving a $2000 price rise, a boosted powertrain, revised exterior styling and more equipment.

Spanning across five variants, options for the manual-only Pik-Up include single- or dual-cab, 4x2 or 4x4, S6 or S10 grades, and cab chassis or well-side tub, with all featuring driveaway pricing.

The entry-level single-cab S6 4x2 cab chassis will join the range next year from $21,990, while the single-cab S6 4x4 cab chassis currently opens proceedings at $26,990.

Stepping up to the dual-cab S6 4x4 cab chassis costs $29,490, while dual-cab S6 4x4 well-side tub checks in from $29,990, with the flagship S10 4x4 dual-cab well-side tub attracting a $31,990 charge.

All are powered by an updated 2.2-litre 'mHawk' turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 103kW of power and 330Nm of torque from 1600rpm to 2800rpm, up 14kW and 60Nm.

Furthermore, each Pik-Up is exclusively paired to an all-new six-speed manual gearbox that sends drive to the rear wheels, while all-wheel drive variants feature a 4x4 transmission with low range.

The model's front-end design has been overhauled, with its new-look grille picking up black mesh inserts, as well as a gloss-black finish with chrome accents on the S10 grade.

Meanwhile, the reshaped lower air intake also adds black mesh inserts, helping to integrate it and the grille even further.

The Pik-Up's headlights are completely redesigned, including LED daytime running lights for the S10 grade. Additionally, its bonnet has been tweaked, while the bolder fog lights are mounted in restyled apertures.

Inside, significant changes are limited to new upholstery, as well as a 6.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system in the S10 grade.

The S6 grade features steel wheels with plastic covers, an audio head unit with MP3, radio and CD support; an integrated rear step (dual-cab only), tubular side steps, fabric seats with vinyl inserts, projector headlights and air-conditioning.

Standard safety features include hill descent control, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking, electronic brakeforce distribution, roll-over mitigation, airbags, crash-protection crumple zones and a collapsible steering column.

Head rests and three-point lap sash seatbelts now feature on all seats, while dual-cabs are enhanced with two ISOFIX anchorages and three top tether points for the second row.

Moving up to the S10 further adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, satellite navigation, a reversing camera, Bluetooth connectivity, remote central locking, an alloy sports bar, running board-style side steps, front-row arm rests, a height-adjustable driver seat, side projection lights, climate control and rain-sensing wipers.

Four exterior paint colours will be offered from launch, including 'Artic White', 'De-Sat Silver', 'Napoli Black' and 'Red Rage'.

Genuine factory accessories – some of which are made in Brisbane – extend to a tow bar (2.5 tonne braked towing capacity), aluminium, galvanised steel or colour-coded steel trays; winch-compatible steel bull bars, fibreglass snorkels, carpet floor mats and canvas seat covers.

A suspension upgrade with lift kit and stainless steel nudge bar with bash plate will be available next year.

Every Pik-Up comes with a five-year/100,000km limited warranty, as well as a five-year roadside assistance program.
