Lexus LS 2020 pricing and spec confirmed: Ultra-rare Inspiration Series introduced to rival Merc S-Class

Unique wheels and exterior colour will differentiate the Lexus LS Inspiration Series from the rest of the line-up.

Lexus Australia has brought in a limited-edition LS pair to top its large limousine line-up, priced from $198,922 before on-road costs for the 500 and $199,505 for the hybrid 500h.

In total, less than 10 units will be made available, with each designed to celebrate the brand’s 30th birthday.

The Inspiration Series adds a number of cosmetic enhancements such as ‘Dark Vapor’ 20-inch alloy wheels and a ‘Khaki Metal’ green exterior colour, although buyers also have a choice of ‘Sonic Quartz’, ‘Liquid Metal’ and ‘Scarlet Crimson’ for the latter.

Inside, the Inspiration Series benefits from semi-aniline leather-accented trims and fabric door textures both finished in brown, while a unique ‘30th Anniversary’ signature that illuminates blue is also fitted.

As standard, the LS is also kitted out with a 12.3-inch multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, digital radio, 23-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, dual 11.6-inch rear entertainment screens and 22-way power-adjustable rear seats, as well as heated, cooled and massing front and rear-outboard seats.

However, Lexus has lifted the LS’ safety systems with the introduction of the Inspiration Series, adding lane-tracing assist to its new flagship and Sports Luxury grades.

According to Lexus, lane-tracing assist can “detect curves ahead and reduce vehicle speed entering a particular bend”, as well as providing “gentle steering inputs to keep the vehicle in the centre of the lane”.

All LS variants also gain a parking support brake system that combines sonar and rear cross-traffic sensors to alert drivers in slow-speed manoeuvring.

Finally, the air suspension across the LS range has been revised for flatter and smoother body control.

As previously mentioned, the Inspiration Series pair will be differentiated by powertrains choices – a 310kW/600Nm twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 in the 500 and a 3.5-litre V6 paired to an electric motor in the 500h for a 254kW total system output.

For reference, the LS is also available 500 F Sport and Sports Luxury form for $190,142 and $195,542 respectively, while the 500h F Sport and Sports Luxury are set at $190,750 and $196,125 apiece.
