Kia Stinger 2022 price and features: Spiritual successor to Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon rear-wheel-drive sedans gets more expensive

The Stinger received its midlife facelift last December.

For the second time since the launch of its midlife facelift last December, Kia Australia has increased the pricing of the first-generation Stinger sports sedan.

All Stinger variants have become $200 dearer, with the entry-level 200S and 330S now kicking off from $50,250 and $54,030 plus on-road costs respectively.

Meanwhile, the sports sedan’s flagship GT-Line and GT have moved up to $57,930 and $63,960 respectively to round out the range.

Speaking to CarsGuide, a Kia Australia spokesperson confirmed the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon’s spiritual successor hasn’t had its standard equipment correspondingly changed, with its pricing adjustment instead down to the “usual external factors”.

For reference, the 200S and GT-Line use a 2.0-litre single-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 182kW of power at 6200rpm and 353Nm of torque from 1400-4000rpm.

Conversely, the 330S and GT step up with a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that develops 274kW at 6000rpm and 510Nm from 1300-4500rpm.

Either way, both engines are mated to an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels.

As reported, 2022 could be the last year the Stinger is available to buy, with it allegedly set to exit production then due to slow sales in key markets. Stay tuned.
